Ian Smith is a massage therapist working on the west side of Edinburgh. He is qualified in both Sports and Remedial massage and Swedish massage. He is a Reiki Master, trained in the Usui Ryoko Reiki system of natural healing. In the summer of 2007 he completed his advanced training in Helen Belot Sekhem. Ian believes firmly that reiki, sekhem and massage are Complementary therapies, not Alternative therapies. They are a wonderful option to combat the stresses and strains of modern living.

Swedish Massage

Swedish massage is deep tissue massage which is excellent for relaxation. If you are feeling a bit stressed, if you have any aches and pains, or if you just want to pamper your self then swedish massage may be just what you need.

Remedial and Sports Massage

This type of massage can help to speed up recovery from sports injuries or accidents. It can be particulary effective in the treatment of sciatica and carpal tunnel syndrome. If you suffer from either of these then try massage first before surgery.

Reiki

Reiki means 'Universal Life Force' or 'Universal Life Energy'. It is a system of natural healing developed by Mikao Usui in the early years of the 20th century . Mikao Usui developed the system from ancient Buddhist texts and spent his life treating the sick. Reiki works at an energetic level, clearing stagnations and blockages from the seven main Chakras. Reiki treatments can be given seated or lying, hands on or hands off, as the client wishes. Reiki treatments are given for relaxation and are an excellent way to ‘chill out’. Ian also offers reiki courses. Reiki is taught in three levels. Level one allows you to treat your self, friends and family. Reiki two allows you to practice professionally and Reiki three is the master teacher level which allows you to attune others to the reiki energy.
